![]() Site 44JC802, the George Sandys site (ca. 1620-50), is located in James City County, Virginia, on a parcel known as Kingsmill Neck. Tucked away in the Kingsmill on the James residential subdivision and overlooking the James River, 44JC802 sits atop an 85' bluff on the northern shore. In between modern-day Warehams Pond to the west and Grove Creek to the east, the Sandys site is one mile northeast of the Tribell Shoal Channel, three miles northeast of Hog Island's Hog Point, and five miles east of Jamestown Island's Black Point. Archaeologists under the direction of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities' (APVA) Jamestown Rediscovery project excavated site 44JC802 from 1996-98. The collection is located at the Yeardley House at Jamestown Island. It has been fully cataloged on Rediscovery and analyzed.
