Crucible with Glass

Crucible with Glass Glass that has melted and cooled can be seen sticking to the inside of this crucible, which was excavated from Pit 1 where it must have been thrown some time prior to 1610. A crucible is an "industrial strength" vessel that can withstand the very high heat that glassmaking requires without exploding. This glass-laden crucible may have been used to produce the tryal of glasse that the colonists sent to London in 1608.
