Samuel Yonge

Samuel Yonge The Site of Old "James Towne" was published in 1907 as part of the Jamestown tercentenary. In the book Samuel H. Yonge, the engineer responsible for constructing the seawall that still protects the fort site from erosion, reconstructed the town layout based on the documents available at the time. The location and orientation of James Fort on his map are very close to the now proven location.
