What is there to see at Jamestown?

Almost four hundred years ago, the first permanent English settlement in North America was established along the James River. Wildlife, adventure, and excitement were plentiful. Today, Jamestown Island is still home to all of these things, and much more.

Administered jointly by Preservation Virginia and the National Park Service, Jamestown offers a wide variety of activities. Whether your interests are in touring the current excavation site and talking with the archaeologists, visiting the Voorhees Archaearium and learning about the over 1000 artifacts on display there, or driving the wilderness loop drive and reading about various aspects of the colonists' work and life, a day at Jamestown captures the imagination as it immerses you in centuries of history. Come join us as we uncover "The Buried Truth" of America's birthplace!
