Cabasset Helmet and Breastplate
Cabasset Helmet
This is the first intact helmet that has been
excavated on Jamestown Island. It is a type of light
headgear used in the late 16th and early 17th
centuries.
Breastplate
Armor reflects the style of clothing worn by men. This
rounded high-waisted breastplate is the type that was
made in the 15th and early 16th centuries. By the time of
Jamestown's settlement, breastplates in Europe were worn
by pikemen and the cavalry, but not by musketeers.
