Jamestown Fort: Rediscovered
Jamestown Fort: Rediscovered explores the history behind the first permanent English settlement in the New World and the archaeological search and discovery of its remains. The exhibit examines the reasons for the settlement's location, the obstacles the explorers encountered, and the very people who overcame these challenges. In addition, the exhibit follows the twentieth century adventurers-the archaeologists-who "rediscovered" the soil-stained footprint of the 1607 Fort.
The exhibit is jointly sponsored by the National Geographic Society and the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. The exhibit is on display at the Jamestown Visitor Center until October when it will travel to the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond, Virginia.
